Rebecca Alwine

Rebecca is a freelance writer with over five years of professional experience, which includes military family topics, research pieces, and editing. Her work can be found in national publications including USAToday’s Veterans Affairs Special Issue, Ms. Magazine and The Atlantic’s City Lab. Recently, Rebecca moderated a panel on freelance writing at the 2018 Military Influencers Conference, and she has also spoken at the South Carolina Writers Association Professional Development Workshop.

Rebecca has a B.A. in Geography from the University of Mary Washington and holds a Masters of Emergency Management and Disaster Planning from American Military University. Her passion for disaster response and the military community culminated in her thesis A Determination of Emergency Response: Military or Civilian.

Rebecca is an army wife and mother of three. Over the past 12 years, she’s discovered she enjoys coffee, lifting weights, and most of the menial tasks of motherhood. Her days consist of CrossFit workouts, audiobooks, and pretending to cook while her Instant Pot does all the work. Her motto: work smarter, not harder.
